YES! On freeways (in Switzerland with white-green signage) there is an obligation to use a vignette for motor vehicles up to 3.5 tons gross vehicle weight (GVW). Similarly, trailers and caravans with a zGG of less than 3.5 tons require a separate vignette. Trailers pulled by motorcycles are exempt from the vignette requirement. This regulation also applies to motor homes with a GVW of up to 3.5 tons and motorcycles.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

In principle, both vignettes have the same function. However, the e-vignette is ready within a few minutes, while the physical vignette must be sent by mail. Furthermore, the e-vignette offers the advantage that no sticky vignette has to be attached to the windshield and the registration is done digitally - i.e. it is registered on your license plate.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

In this context, the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the trailer plays a decisive role. For trailers with a GVW of up to 3.5 tons, the purchase of an additional toll sticker is required. This applies equally to caravans whose zGG also does not exceed 3.5 tons. For trailers and caravans with a GVW of more than 3.5 tons, the fee is paid via a special heavy vehicle fee.
